Timers come with the Standard plan and show the countdown on the respondent's screen.

A timer for the whole test: when it runs out, the answers given so far are sent.
A timer for a question: when it runs out, the question locks and is marked as timed out.
A question can open only when the person presses a button, so reading time doesn't count.

Is the online test maker free?

Yes. Right answers, points, one attempt per person, a password and random order work on the Free plan: 50 tests, 100 responses a month and up to 30 questions per test, with no credit card. On Free, people don't see their score at the end, but you see every score in your results.

What is the difference between a quiz, a test and an exam?

In SurveyNinja they are built the same way: questions with right answers and points. A quiz is usually short and low-stakes, a test checks knowledge with a pass mark, and an exam adds strict rules, such as a timer, one attempt and no going back. Turn on the rules the test needs.

How do I stop people from cheating?

Use one response per person, a timer, random order of questions and options, and no going back to answered questions. A password or email confirmation limits who can start.

Can I set a time limit?

Yes, on the Standard plan and higher. A test timer sends the answers given so far when time runs out. A question timer locks the question and marks it as timed out.

Can people see their score and the right answers?

Yes, from the Basic plan. The last screen shows the score, the time taken and a text for the score range, such as Passed. A "Show my answers" button opens each answer marked right or wrong.

Can I shuffle the questions?

Yes, on every plan. Shuffle the whole test or only the questions you choose, pin the ones that must stay in place, and shuffle the answer options of each question.

How do I get the grades into Excel?

Download the responses as an Excel, CSV or SPSS file: each response has a column with its total score. Exports work on every plan.

How is it different from a Google Forms quiz?

Both grade answers. SurveyNinja adds a result text for each score range, test and question timers, and one attempt per person checked by cookie or IP, so people don't need a Google account. Moving an existing Google Form to SurveyNinja takes one click.
