Logic Jumps

Logic jumps send respondents to different questions depending on their answers. For example, respondents who give your order 1 or 2 stars go straight to "What could we do better?", and everyone else answers the questions in order.
Adding a logic jump
The survey needs at least 2 questions.
- Open the survey in Builder.
- Hover over the question the jump starts from and click the Logic Jumps icon on its toolbar (1). The Logic Jumps panel opens.
- Click Add logic jump (2).
- In IF, choose the question (1), the condition (2) and the answer (3). The current question is selected by default. You can pick another question answered earlier or a hidden variable.
- To check one more answer, click Add a condition and choose AND or OR between the conditions.
- In THEN, choose the action (4) and the target (5):
– Go to sends the respondent to the selected question.
– Finish survey early ends the survey on the selected Thank You Screen. If the survey has no Thank You Screen, the standard completion is used.
– Disqualify sends the respondent to the Disqualification screen. If you haven't added one, the default message is shown. - Click Save (6).
The rule appears in the Logic Jumps panel. Add as many rules as you need and drag a rule by its handle to change the order.
In THEN, you can also click Add action to show or hide other questions together with the jump. If the survey uses scores, the rule editor has two tabs: By answer and By total score.

If a question has Prefer not to answer or None of the above turned on, you can use these answers in conditions too.
Where respondents go by default
At the bottom of the Logic Jumps panel, under OR, you set where respondents go when no rule applies. With logic jumps, this block is called In other cases; without them, After providing an answer always. In direct to, the default is Next step (default), the next question in the builder. To send respondents somewhere else, choose a question or screen in this list (3 on the first screenshot).
Showing a question only to some respondents
- Open the Logic Jumps panel of the question you want to show or hide.
- Click Add display condition.
- In IF, choose an earlier question and the answer.
- In THEN, choose Show or Hide. The current question is already selected as the target.
- Click Save.
With Show, the question appears only to respondents who meet the condition. With Hide, these respondents skip it.
Disqualifying by quota
A quota stops accepting a certain group of respondents once it's full.
- In the Logic Jumps panel, click Add quota disqualification.
- In Count, choose All answers to the question or Only a specific option.
- Set the Answer limit and click Save.
When the limit is reached, the next respondents who answer this question go to the Disqualification screen. This also happens with Only a specific option: the rule checks the counter, not the respondent's own answer. Checking the routes
- Open Survey → Logic map (1) to see all routes as a diagram. Click the round icon on the right edge of a question (Logic) (2) to open its rules.
- If a rule leads to a question that comes earlier, to a hidden question or can never be met, the Logic Jumps panel shows a warning with a hint.
- If the logic has a critical error, the Publish button turns red. Click ! next to it to see the list of Logic issues.
Before publishing, go through each route in Preview.
Limits
- Logic jumps are checked from top to bottom. The respondent goes where the first rule whose conditions are met leads. Show and Hide actions apply from every rule whose conditions are met.
- Conditions joined with AND and OR are combined in order, from top to bottom: "A OR B AND C" works as "(A OR B) AND C".
- If one rule shows a question and another hides it, and both are met, the question is hidden.
- A display condition works only with a question that comes before the question you show or hide.
- Disqualify and Add quota disqualification are unavailable while Allow response editing is turned on in the survey settings.
If something doesn't work
- The Logic Jumps icon isn't on the question toolbar. The survey has fewer than 2 questions. Add another question. The Welcome Screen has no logic jumps.
- The Logic Jumps panel shows a dollar icon and opens a plan upgrade window. Logic jumps aren't included in the Free plan. They're available on the Basic plan and higher. Compare plans.
- Disqualify isn't in the action list. Allow response editing is turned on. Turn it off in the survey settings.
- There is no Add a condition button. The rule is on the By total score tab, and a score rule has only one condition. Switch to By answer to combine several answers.
