Publishing a Survey and Adding It to a Website
Updated
On this page
To collect responses, publish the survey first. After that you get a link to it and can add the survey to your website, share it on social media, print a QR code or a paper version.
Publishing the survey
- Open the survey and click Publish in the top right corner.
- The Share the Survey panel opens with the survey link. Click Copy and send the link to your respondents.

Below the link, the panel has shortcuts to the other ways of sharing: unique links, social media, iframe, pop-up window, button and QR code.
The Share section in the top menu becomes available after the first publication.
When you edit a published survey, respondents keep seeing the previous version until you click Publish again.
Ways to share the survey
Click Share in the top menu. The second row lists all the ways to share:
| Section | What you get |
|---|---|
| Link | The survey link to copy, open or change. |
| Social media | A post preview and buttons to share the link on Facebook, X, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and Telegram. |
| On website | Code to add the survey to your website as a widget, pop-up window, iframe or button. |
| QR code | A QR code image in PNG or SVG and printable cards with it. See QR Code and Printed Survey. |
| A file of the survey to print: PDF, Word, TXT or HTML. | |
| URL parameters | A link with hidden variables, so that the source or order number arrives with the response. |
Survey link
Go to Share → Link.

- Copy (1) copies the link.
- The pencil icon Edit link (2) opens the link settings: the survey path and the address of your workspace (Basic and higher), and your own domain (Premium and higher). The address you choose applies to all surveys in the workspace. To add a domain, click Connect domain under the link. See Custom Domain for Survey Links.
- Open opens the survey in a new tab, QR code goes to the QR code section.
- View responses appears once the survey has responses and opens Results.
- Unique links (3) at the bottom of the card creates separate links for departments or people (Standard and higher). See Unique Survey Links.
Adding the survey to a website
- Go to Share → On website.
- Choose how the survey appears on the page: Widget, Pop-up window, Iframe or Button (1).
- Set up the options on the right (2). The preview on the left shows the result on a sample page. You can take the survey there; preview responses don't get into the report.
- In Website installation, click Copy code (3).
- Paste the code into your website's HTML (see the table below).
- Save the changes on your website. The survey appears for visitors right away.

| Method | How it works | Where to paste the code |
|---|---|---|
| Widget | A tab button that is always visible at the side or bottom of the page. The survey opens next to it, and the visitor stays on the page. | Right before the closing body tag, on every page where you need the survey |
| Pop-up window | The survey opens over the page: right away, after a delay, when the visitor is about to close the tab, or on your JavaScript event. | Right before the closing body tag |
| Iframe | The survey becomes part of the page content. Works with WordPress, Wix, Webflow, Squarespace and other website builders. | In the page HTML, where the survey should be |
| Button | A button on the page opens the survey in a pop-up or in a new tab. | In the page HTML, where the button should be |
Main settings
- Widget: Widget mode (Side panel or Bottom popover), Position, size, button text, icon and colors. In Advanced settings you can open the widget automatically (Auto-open options), close it after the response is sent and hide it on mobile devices.
- Pop-up window: When to open it and How often (from every page to once a month), the delay in seconds and the Overlay color. Don't show after submission stops showing the pop-up to visitors who have already responded.
- Iframe: Width in percent, Height in pixels and the colors of the loading screen.
- Button: Button type (on the page or attached to the left or right edge of the screen), Text, size, radius and colors. How to open the survey switches between In a popup and In a new tab. A button that opens a new tab is a plain link without a script, so it works on websites where you can't add scripts.
Note. The settings on this page are not saved. Copy the code once you finish: if you leave the page, the settings go back to the defaults.
QR code
Go to Share → QR code. Choose the format (PNG or SVG), the style and colors, add your logo if you need it and pick the file size. Then click Download QR code.
To print the code right away, click Print and choose A4 sheet, Business card 90×50 or Sticker 5×5.
Printed version
Go to Share → Print. Choose the File format (PDF, Word, TXT or HTML), set the font size, paper size and what to show on the sheet, then click Download. The preview on the left shows the PDF layout.
Social media and URL parameters
- Social media: set the title, description and image of the link preview and share the link from the same page. See Sharing Your Survey to Social Media.
- URL parameters (Standard and higher): add variables to the link, for example the traffic source, and their values arrive with each response. See Hidden Variables.
Note. A micro survey has no link. Instead of Share, it has a Publication section that installs the survey card on your website step by step. See Micro Surveys on Your Website.
If something doesn't work
- Publish is grey and can't be clicked. Hover over the button. The survey has been published means there are no changes since the last publication, and respondents already see the current version. Access denied means your role in the workspace doesn't let you edit this survey or its settings. With no tooltip, the survey has no questions yet or a question isn't finished, for example a Yes or No question with an empty answer label.
- Publish is red. The survey has a critical logic error. Click ! next to the button to see the logic issues, fix them, then publish.
- Share in the top menu is grey and doesn't open. The survey has never been published. Click Publish first.
- The website shows the old version of the survey. Changes reach respondents only after you click Publish. You don't need to replace the code on the website.
