Questions and answers
Are website surveys free in SurveyNinja?
Yes. Micro surveys are available on every plan, including Free. The format is in beta, so we keep improving it based on feedback.
Do I need a developer to add a survey to my website?
Only once, if you don't edit the site yourself. SurveyNinja gives you one snippet for the whole site, and you can email it to your developer in one click. After that, every survey and setting is managed in SurveyNinja.
Will it slow down my website?
The script loads asynchronously, so your page doesn't wait for it.
Does the survey use cookies or collect personal data?
The script on your site sets no cookies. It counts visitors with a random ID kept in the browser, and each view or close records the page path, device type and country, not the IP address. The survey opens in a SurveyNinja frame and keeps its own technical data there, such as whether this visitor has already answered. It collects personal data only if a question asks for it, like an email.
Does “about to leave” work on phones?
No. It watches the cursor leave the page through the top edge, so it works on computers. On phones, show the survey after a few seconds, on scroll or with a feedback button.
Which questions can a micro survey have?
Single and multiple choice, yes or no, dropdown, rating, smile rating, opinion scale, NPS, slider, text, number, email, phone, full name, date and time, and file upload. You can also add a welcome screen, a message and a thank-you screen.
Can I run several surveys on one website?
Yes, each with its own pages and triggers. One page view shows one survey at most: the first one whose rules match, in the order they were added to the site.
Can I open the survey from my own code?
Yes. Call SurveyninjaSite('open') to open it, or SurveyninjaSite('event', 'name') to fire a named trigger you set in the survey. SurveyninjaSite('close') closes it.
Can the card match my website?
Yes. The card uses your survey's design theme, its colors and buttons. You choose where it appears: in a corner, in the middle of a side or as a centered window. The Feedback button gets your own text, colors and icon.
