The archive keeps surveys you don't need right now out of your workspaces. An archived survey keeps its questions and responses, stops accepting new responses and no longer counts toward the survey limit of your plan.
Moving a survey to the archive
- On the dashboard, open the workspace with the survey.
- Click the three-dot icon (⋮) on the survey card.
- Select Move to archive.
The survey disappears from the workspace right away, without a confirmation.
What happens to an archived survey
- Questions, settings and all responses are kept.
- Anyone who opens the survey link sees the Survey Archived page: "This survey has been moved to the archive and is currently unavailable to take".
- Shared links to the survey results stop opening.
- The survey doesn't count toward the survey limit of your plan.
Viewing archived surveys
Click Archive at the bottom of the left panel on the dashboard (1). The Survey Archive page (2) lists archived surveys from all workspaces of your account.
The survey menu in the archive is shorter: Edit, Report, Add a note, Move from archive and Delete.
Restoring a survey from the archive
- Click Archive in the left panel.
- Click the three-dot icon (⋮) on the survey card.
- Select Move from archive.
The survey goes back to the workspace that was open on the dashboard before you switched to the archive. If the survey was published, the link starts accepting responses again.
You can also restore a survey from its Share section. The page shows the banner "This survey is archived and not available to respondents." Click Restore the survey? in the banner, then Restore.

If you might need the survey or its responses later, archive it instead of deleting it.
Limits
- A restored survey counts toward the survey limit again. If the limit is already reached, SurveyNinja shows the Unavailable on your plan window and the survey stays in the archive. Archive or delete another survey, or compare plans.
- Viewing the archive and moving surveys to it needs the View survey archive permission. Members with the built-in Member role don't have it. See Team Members and Roles.
